● Underline the names of scientists or experts.
Gap filling often comes with the theories of experts. In this case , you can easily detect them and avoid reading the entire passage again.

● Mark the dates and times.
Always mark the dates and times in a circular shape or square while reading the passage for the first time. This way, you won’t have to search for them and can spot them easily.it works for mcqs too.
● Learn synonyms.
Learn the complex and simple synonyms of words. Often, in a gap filling , a student is given a box or words. But most of them are not directly used in the passage. They use synonyms very much. It’s a trick to confuse you.
